About
The idea for The Campfire Project was developed by veterans and first responders in 2000 and the organization proudly came to fruition and became a 501(c)(3) in 2021. Our work is guided by the ideals of support, empowerment, and progress. Inspired by the tradition of gathering around a campfire to share stories after a day spent outdoors, we create immersive recreational events designed to foster healing, camaraderie, and a renewed sense of purpose. These experiences bring participants together to pursue shared goals, building connections and rekindling the spirit of teamwork and mission they often miss after leaving public service.
For many, transitioning out of service means losing the informal networks that once offered support through life's challenges. The Campfire Project recreates those trusted environments, giving participants the opportunity to work together, share experiences, and feel part of an objective-focused team once again.
Our approach is not about changing or "fixing" anyone but offering a space where individuals can feel understood, valued, and united. By providing these events at no cost, we help Veterans and First Responders rediscover a sense of belonging and shared purpose, strengthening their resilience and connection to a supportive community.
"The highest compliment that you can pay me is to say that I work hard every day to make myself better."
- General Norman Schwarzkopf
Our Mission Statement
At The Campfire Project, we are dedicated to fostering the mental and emotional well-being of Veterans and First Responders through immersive recreational experiences. Our mission is to create a supportive environment that encourages self-identification of challenges, promotes healing, camaraderie, and a sense of belonging. By offering cost-free trips and meaningful connections, we strive to reignite the spark of purpose for those who have served our communities.

Our Vision
Our goal is to ensure every Veteran and First Responder has access to the support and camaraderie they need to thrive after service. We would love to expand our reach, offer more trips, and create more opportunities for healing, connection, and a renewed sense of purpose.
With your help, we can grow, support more individuals, and provide the resources necessary to strengthen our community. Your donations are what make this mission possible!
